The best anti-aging treatments
for younger, smoother skin

You must have heard a lot about skin rejuvenation treatments. Skin rejuvenation refers to any treatment or procedure that has the benefit of revitalizing and improving skin irregularities. Skin rejuvenation treatments can also prevent damaged skin. Age and lifestyle are the main factors our skin gets damaged. It can be caused by aging, too much sun exposure, unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking, stress, and other health conditions. Skin rejuvenation treatments include laser treatment, chemical peeling, microdermabrasion, intense pulsed light, microneedling, hyaluronic acid injection, etc. In this case, we will talk about skin rejuvenation laser which include Intense Pulsed Light.

What is a skin rejuvenation laser?

Laser technology has been used for years in dermatology. Laser have the benefit of treating skin diseases and promoting skin health. With the help of lasers, it is now possible to stimulate skin regeneration more quickly. The natural aging process and hectic lifestyle can cause premature aging. As a result, our skin gets damaged. Some signs of damaged skin are dull skin, pigmentation, fine lines, uneven skin tone, age spots, etc.

Skin rejuvenation laser can be divided into two types: non-ablative laser, and ablative laser which are commonly known as laser skin resurfacing. You might be also familiar with Fractional laser. This type of laser works similar with ablative laser, only with specific pattern.  The non-ablative laser improves skin appearance without injuring the skin's surface. The laser beam works by stimulating collagen production. This procedure is usually indicated to treat early signs of aging, such as fine lines, mild wrinkles, and age spots. This procedure is also effective for improving skin texture and skin tone.

On the other hand, the ablative laser is an invasive treatment that works by removing the outer layer of the skin to reduce the appearance of acne scars and other irregularities. This procedure is more effective for treating moderate to more severe signs of aging, such as deeper wrinkles and severe pigmentation.

Type of Skin Rejuvenation Laser
at Eterna Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Clinic

Eterna Clinic Bali provides many types of laser to treat many kinds of skin concerns, as follows:

Skin Rejuvenation Laser by Quanta

Quanta uses Q-switched laser technology. This type of laser is able to penetrate into the deeper layer of the skin without scarring or damaging skin tissues. The laser beam helps to prevent and reduce early signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and dull skin. The heat produced by the laser encourages collagen remodeling and elastin production under your skin. As a result, your skin will appear smoother and younger.

You may also notice brighter and more even skin tones. Because of these benefits, Skin Rejuvenation Laser by Quanta become the best-selling laser face treatment at our clinic.

Skin rejuvenation laser by Quanta takes about 10 to 20 minutes for the full-face area. For the neck and decolletage area, it might take longer. Anesthesia and injection are not required for this laser treatment. During the treatment, you will wear safety goggles to protect your eyes from laser exposure. When the laser is delivered into your skin, you will feel the warmth. You may also feel a tingling sensation. Most of the patients report that there is no pain during the treatment.

One of the best benefits of a rejuvenation laser by Quanta is that there is no downtime. This is a great option for a quick face rejuvenation treatment. You can put on makeup immediately after the treatment and return to your normal activities. A mild pinkish appearance on the treated area is possible 15 minutes after the treatment. However, it will subdue after a few hours. You also need to avoid direct sun exposure after the treatment.

Skin rejuvenation laser by Quanta can be your quick and effective rejuvenation treatment.

Even so, a consultation is required prior to having a skin rejuvenation laser treatment by Quanta. During the consultation, our doctor will examine your skin type, your desired skin goal, and whether this type of laser is recommended for your skin.

Pigmented Lesion Laser by Quanta

Q-switched laser technology in Quanta is also effective for removing pigmentation such as freckles, sun spots, melasma, birthmarks, and hyperpigmentation. A pigmented spot or pigmented lesion is caused by melanocyte cells that produce melanin. Melanin is a substance that gives you color or pigment on your skin. Excess melanin production causes the skin to appear darker. Even though in most cases, pigmented lesions are not harmless, their appearance on your skin could be disturbing.

Quanta Laser is the most effective and safe procedure to eliminate pigmented lesions. During the treatment, the intense laser energy is absorbed by the skin cells that contain excess melanin. Then the heat shatters the pigmented lesion. The laser technology of Quanta is able to radiate extremely short pulses. As a result, it can effectively hit the targeted area quickly without harming the surrounding skin tissues.

The pigmented lesion laser is painless. You might feel a light pricking sensation during the treatment. However, if needed, anesthetic cream will be applied prior to the procedure. Soon after the treatment, you might feel discomfort in the treated area. You may also notice redness in the treated area. But it will tone down after a few hours. Your skin might also be more sensitive to sun exposure. Using sunscreen is advisable to protect the treated area and minimize the side effects. Discoloration may last for one to two weeks. This is a normal side effect. It is important to keep the area clean. Avoid the use of makeup or cosmetic products and hot water for three days after treatment. As the area heals, the fragmented skin cells will be flushed away through your metabolism or dry and flake off the treated area, leaving you with a smoother and more even skin tone.

Pigmented lesion laser treatment only takes a few minutes, depending on the size of the lesion. Some cases, such as sunspots and freckles, can be treated in one session. Meanwhile, other cases or bigger lesions, such as birthmarks, can take more sessions.

Deep Skin Rejuvenation Laser by Fotona

A deep skin rejuvenation laser is indicated for those who want to fight moderate signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and moderate pigmentation. This laser resurfacing treatment is also a great option for treatment to improve the appearance of acne scars and even skin tone.

This procedure is commonly known as a facial laser resurfacing. This type of laser is an ablative laser. The purpose of this treatment is similar to dermabrasion and chemical peels. The laser is used to restore healthier skin by removing the thin outer layer (epidermis) of damaged skin.

Fotona Laser is one of the leading technologies for laser skin rejuvenation. Compared to traditional treatments like chemical peels, the use of a laser allows for a more precise and accurate target area. This type of laser removes the unwanted, damaged skin precisely. The laser also heats the deeper skin (dermis), thus triggering the growth of collagen and promoting new, healthier skin. As a result, your skin appears tighter and smoother. Fine lines and wrinkles will also be reduced. It makes this treatment an effective laser treatment for wrinkles.

Deep skin rejuvenation laser by Fotona takes about 30 minutes. Due to the ablative type of laser, this treatment is slightly painful. However, before the procedure, anesthetic cream will be applied by our nurse to minimize the pain. During the procedure, the laser beam is delivered not only into your epidermis to remove the damaged skin but also into your dermis to stimulate collagen production at the same time.

After the treatment, you might notice redness and swelling in the treated area. Itching, pain, and burning sensations are other common side effects after the treatment. Our medical team will prescribe a post-laser and antibiotic ointment to be applied at home. A painkiller and wound dressing will also be prescribed if needed. During the healing time, approximately five to seven days, any skincare and cosmetic products should be avoided because your skin condition is more sensitive during this time. You also need to avoid too much sun exposure. Always use your sunscreen during the day. You may feel your skin become drier and tighter after a week. This is a sign that the damaged skin is ready to laser peel off and that new, healthier skin will appear. It is important to make sure that your skin peels off naturally. Do not pick or peel off the skin by yourself to avoid hyperpigmentation. It takes about two weeks for the skin to fully recover.

TwinLight Skin Rejuvenation Laser by Fotona

TwinLight Skin Rejuvenation Laser is a comprehensive anti-aging treatment that combines ablative and non-ablative lasers. To combat the signs of aging, this procedure precisely targets the treated area by inducing very small wounds inside the skin. However, what makes this laser treatment different from other rejuvenation lasers is that the heat of this laser energy stimulates the surrounding skin to speed up the rejuvenation process by combining 4 different steps of lasers; therefore, it will induce the formation of collagen and elastin effectively.

There are four steps to TwinLight Skin Rejuvenation Laser as follows:

Smooth lifting

In this step, an Erbium laser is used. The stable heat from Erbium laser energy is delivered evenly into the skin to stimulate collagen. This ablative laser is also capable of reducing pore size.

Versa rejuvenation

This step of rejuvenation uses the LP Nd:YAG laser. In this step, the laser energy is injected into a deeper layer of the skin without damaging it.

The target of this step is to remove skin irregularities, such as facial redness, vascular lesions, and other abnormal structures under the skin. Furthermore, laser energy also stimulates collagen and elastin production. As a result, your skin will be smoother and brighter.

Fractional skin resurfacing

During this step, an ablative laser is penetrated into the deeper layer of the skin to create small wounds inside the skin. These wounds will boost collagen and elastin production to heal. The laser is also able to improve blood circulation. Thus, the new skin grows thicker and healthier.

Full-beam skin resurfacing

This step is commonly known as an ultra-light peel. Erbium lasers are used on superficial skin to remove the outer layer. The process is similar to another ablative laser. As the skin heals, new, healthier, and brighter skin will appear.

Since this laser for face treatment includes soft peeling, it takes about a week to be fully recovered. After the treatment, post-laser cream and an antibiotic topical cream are prescribed. It is important to keep the treated area heavily moisturized. For maximum results, growth factor therapy is recommended to speed up the healing process.

The TwinLight skin rejuvenation laser is perfect for those who desire to get drastic rejuvenation effects without surgery or chemical treatments. It is suitable for all skin tones and types.

Skin Resurfacing Laser by CO2

Skin resurfacing laser by CO2 is similar to deep skin rejuvenation laser by Fotona. But comparing them both, CO2 has a higher intensity. Until today, the fractional CO2 laser had the highest intensity of laser energy. This laser CO2 treatment is able to remove moderately to severely damaged skin, such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, large pores, and other pigmentation concerns.

The CO2 laser is able to penetrate into the deepest layer of the skin; thus, this type of laser is effective to smooth and improve the appearance of acne scars. CO2 resurfacing laser works by penetrating the laser beam on the treated area and then burning it layer by layer. Because of its ability to penetrate into the deepest skin layer, this laser treatment not only removes the outer layer of the skin (the epidermis), but also tightens collagen fibers in the deeper layer. As a result, the skin will appear firmer and smoother.

A consultation and skin assessment with the expert are necessary before deciding to do a CO2 laser. Topical anesthetic cream is applied prior to the procedure. When the laser beam is absorbed by the skin, you may feel a sunburn sensation. Pain, redness, and swelling are common side effects after the treatment. You can compress the treated area with ice packs to reduce the swelling. Post-laser cream and wound dressing tools will be provided for you to take home. If needed, an anti-inflammatory will be prescribed. Make sure to keep the treated area clean. Other important aftercare will be explained further with our medical team.

It takes about 1-2 weeks for the skin to be healed. Do not put on makeup until the treated area is completely healed. And always stay out of the sun since your skin will be more sensitive. After about a week, you may notice the treated area turning darker and your skin starting to peel. It will fall off on its own. Remember not to peel it by yourself to avoid hyperpigmentation. After the skin is completely peeled, healthier, smoother, and tighter skin will appear.

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy by Exilite

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is commonly known as "photofacial" or "photorejuvenation." This treatment is effective for improving skin tone and texture. IPL uses high-intensity light energy to rejuvenate the skin.

IPL skin rejuvenation is different from laser. IPL is polychromatic, or it uses more than one wavelength of light to target the skin. The laser only uses one wavelength in a concentrated beam of monochromaticity. The benefit of IPL, with its polychromatic nature, is its capability to treat multiple skin problems at the same time. IPL rejuvenation is indicated to treat skin damage caused by sun exposure, acne, dull skin, and pigmentation problems.

IPL takes about 20–30 minutes for each session. Anesthesia is not required for this rejuvenation treatment. Safety goggles are provided to protect your eyes from the light bursts during the treatment. A cooling gel will be applied to the treated area, and then the Exilite device is gently applied to deliver the light.

When the light is delivered to your skin, you will feel warm and like you are being snapped with a rubber band. The range of light that is penetrated into the deeper layer of the skin will help stimulate collagen and fiber production in the targeted area. At the same time, if you have pigmentation, the light will target the melanin and break down the unwanted pigment. In acne cases, the light is able to kill the bacteria causing acne and control sebum production. Sebum is excess oil production, which also causes acne.

You may feel a sunburn sensation and mild redness after the treatment, but these effects will last only for a few hours. If you have a pigmentation spot, it will turn darker in 5–10 days and naturally peel off. It is important to avoid sun exposure for about two weeks and any skincare products that contain harsh chemicals that can irritate the treated area, such as glycolic acid, accutane, tretinoin, retinoic acid, etc.

IPL-Exilite needs several sessions for maximum results. However, some patients notice brighter skin tones and other improvements after the first session. With regular treatment, a dramatic result will be achieved. Your skin will appear younger, fresher, and rejuvenated. The increased collagen production will also improve your skin elasticity.
